Xylon and Xilinx introduced new logiCRAFT-CC Companion Chip Platform based on Xilinx
® Spartan®-6 FPGA. This Xylon platform highlights flexibility of Xilinx FPGAs and Xylon IP cores in design of companion chips for popular host processors. Embedded communication interfaces allow for easy integrations with the host processors.
Functions of FPGA companion chip include support for missing processor features and specialized interfacing. High-speed processing tasks can be offloaded from the base processor to the FPGA for maximum performance.
Xylon provides Linux drivers for the logicBRICKS IP cores currently used by the platform.
Xylon demonstrated the PC system based on the Intel
® Atom
TM Z530 processor using new hardware platform as the companion chip- Supported communication interfaces are the PCI
® and the USB. The platform shall be available later this year.
