Software Drivers - DirectFB Library (DEPRECATED!)

DirectFB for logicBRICKS (Deprecated!)

Key Features

  • Linux graphics library
  • Supports logicBRICKS HW acceleration
  • Input device and windowing system
  • Available from Xylon as open-source software
  • Please contact Xylon to checkout the available level of support for this software product

If you are interested in having the 2D graphics acceleration in the Linux-based HMIs, please check out XylonQPA Plugin for Qt 5.x. Xylon has stopped the full logicBRICKS support to the DirectFB graphics library. In case that you need to work with the DirectFB library, please contact Xylon (support@logicbricks.com) to checkout compatibility between the latest logicBRICKS IP cores, AMD design tools, DirectFB version, etc.

Description

A thin library that provides hardware graphics acceleration, input device handling and abstraction, integrated windowing system with support for translucent windows and multiple display layers, not only on top of the Linux Framebuffer Device. It is a complete hardware abstraction layer with software fallbacks for every graphics operation that is not supported by the underlying hardware.

DirectFB adds graphical power to embedded systems and sets a new standard for graphics under Linux. logicBRICKS implementation utilizes the display controller (logiCVC-ML) and 2D graphics accelerators IP Cores. In case that the logiBITBLT and/or logiBMP IP cores are not implemented in the AMD Zynq™ 7000 or FPGA design, the software driver fallbacks graphics functions otherwise supported by related IP cores.

How to Evaluate?

Pre-verified logicBRICKS reference designs showcase logicBRICKS 2D and 3D graphics hardware accelerators and display controller IP cores on several AMD Zynq™ 7000 All Programmable SoC-based development kits. Design deliverables include complete Linux OS image, software drivers and demo applications. Visit Xylon video galleries to see Linux demo applications running on AMD ZC702 and ZC706 Zynq™ 7000 All Programmable SoC development boards.

The Linux OS image is provided by AMD. To learn more about the AMD Open Source Linux project, please visit the AMD web site!
