    > Reuse of FPGA IP cores

Today’s FPGA technology provides more gates than ever before, and FPGA designs have evolved from simple glue logic into full Systems-On-a-Reprogrammable-Chip (SoRC). An amount of available silicon resources in present FPGA devices is so big that FPGA development teams face an old problem known from the ASIC design area – the design productivity gap!

Well accepted way to fill this productivity gap is to reuse existing designs or IP cores. Reuse of old designs was always a part of engineering practice, but usage of third-party developed IP cores for FPGA designs is a newer, and more demanding approach.

The third-party IP developer must put an extensive amount of efforts into development of a reusable IP core.
